MS900 einrichten – in sechs Schritten
Einrichtung in sechs Schritten
- Gruppen – was ein freigegebener Arbeitsplatz darf
"erp-filiale1": {
"type": "stdio",
"command": "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\MicrotronX\\MicrotronX ERP\\mxBridge.exe",
"args": ["--stdio", "--local", "--port", "18124", "--db", "<ERP-Konfiguration>"]
}
MS900 zentral auf dem Server
"erp-filiale1": {
"type": "stdio",
"command": "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\MicrotronX\\MicrotronX ERP\\mxBridge.exe",
"args": ["--stdio", "--host", "<servername>:18124",
"--db", "<ERP-Konfiguration>",
"--fingerprint", "<Fingerabdruck>"]
}
[mcp_servers.erp_filiale1] command = 'C:\Program Files (x86)\MicrotronX\MicrotronX ERP\mxBridge.exe' args = ["--stdio", "--local", "--port", "18124", "--db", "<ERP-Konfiguration>"]
Mehrere Filialen, mehrere Benutzer
Was Ihr Assistent zu sehen bekommt

Setting up MS900 – in six steps
How to connect your AI assistant to your MicrotronX ERP. Set aside about half an hour.
With the MS900 module, your ERP becomes an MCP server. MCP – the Model Context Protocol – is the open standard that AI applications use to talk to data sources and tools. Any MCP-capable assistant can connect to it, so the choice stays yours.
The connection runs through a small program that your assistant starts on its own. There is nothing to install, and your ERP needs no port that is reachable from outside.
Before you begin
- An MS900 licence for the ERP database in question (on request, see www.microtronx.com).
- MS900 is running – as a Windows service or with administrator rights. One instance per ERP database. This is not a formality: only then does the instance register itself system-wide so that the assistant can find it. A running process with an open port is not proof – the connection will report “no instance found”.
- A current ERP version installed, so that the administration tables and the setup screen are in place.
- At least one group in the ERP administration that defines what the access may do. Without a group it stays closed.
- An MCP-capable assistant on the workstation.
How strict are the defaults?
Strict. The rule is “nothing to begin with”: an access may do only what its group explicitly allows – tools, tables, fields. There is no “everything open” setting, and individual fields can be locked even when the rest of the table is readable.
Write access automatically keeps a prior version. Every change therefore remains traceable and can be undone.
Setting up in six steps
- Start the ERP onceThis places the connecting program
mxBridge.exein your local ERP directory – normallyC:\Program Files (x86)\MicrotronX\MicrotronX ERP. There is nothing to install – no setup, no additional service. - Add an MCP server in your assistantOne entry per ERP database; the templates are below. In Claude Desktop this is the configuration file under
mcpServers, in Claude Code the.mcp.jsonof your project directory. - Restart the assistantThe workstation registers itself automatically. At this point exactly one tool is available: the status enquiry
ms900_status. Everything else stays hidden. - Ask for the status in the chatAsk your assistant to call
ms900_status. The answer names the statepending(“registered, not approved yet”) and a confirmation code. Pass that code to your administrator. - Administrator: approve and assign a groupThe workstation appears in the ERP administration on the Workstations page of the MS900 access section (the full path is below). The administrator compares the code – if it does not match, the request came from somewhere else and is rejected. If it matches, the workstation is approved and a group is assigned.
- Done – the tools appear by themselvesAfter approval the server pushes its tool list; you can start talking to your ERP right away. Only if nothing shows up within a minute, restart the assistant once more.
Where in the ERP?
Main menu → Administration → Administration (Users, Groups, Settings). Inside the administration module, the navigation on the left holds the MS900 access entry and, below it, the page for workstations and groups. The sub-pages open on the right:
- Workstations – compare the code, approve, block, reset
- Groups – what an approved workstation may do
- Classes – the blocks a group is assembled from
- Settings – the fingerprint for the central route, among others
- Audit log – the record of what was accessed
The status enquiry ms900_status
The only tool available before approval. It shows the endpoint, the workstation (machine\user), the state and – while approval is missing – the confirmation code. With {"anfrage": true} it registers the workstation again.
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
pending | Registered, not approved yet. The confirmation code is shown next to it. |
granted | Approved – the tools are ready. If they do not show up in the chat yet, restart the assistant. |
denied | Blocked, or registered with a different credential. The administrator resets the workstation, then register again. |
error | The instance could not be reached – the text next to it names the reason. Usually MS900 is not running as a service or without administrator rights, or port and ERP configuration do not match. |
The configuration
MS900 can run on the same machine as the assistant, or centrally on your server. The entry follows from that.
MS900 on the same machine
"erp-branch1": {
"type": "stdio",
"command": "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\MicrotronX\\MicrotronX ERP\\mxBridge.exe",
"args": ["--stdio", "--local", "--port", "18124", "--db", "<ERP configuration>"]
}
MS900 centrally on the server
"erp-branch1": {
"type": "stdio",
"command": "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\MicrotronX\\MicrotronX ERP\\mxBridge.exe",
"args": ["--stdio", "--host", "<servername>:18124",
"--db", "<ERP configuration>",
"--fingerprint", "<fingerprint>"]
}
That path is the standard folder of an ERP installation. If your ERP lives elsewhere, use your own directory – mxBridge.exe always sits where your ERP starts from.
Assistants that use TOML
Some assistants – ChatGPT Codex among them – keep their MCP servers in a config.toml rather than in JSON. It is the same entry:
[mcp_servers.erp_branch1] command = 'C:\Program Files (x86)\MicrotronX\MicrotronX ERP\mxBridge.exe' args = ["--stdio", "--local", "--port", "18124", "--db", "<ERP configuration>"]
The single quotes around the path are deliberate: they keep the backslashes exactly as they are.
The connection to the server is encrypted and tied to the fingerprint of this one instance – no other server can place itself in between. The ERP administration shows the fingerprint on the Settings page of the MS900 access section.
| Entry | When | What it means |
|---|---|---|
--stdio | always | The mode for assistants – no window, no port of its own |
--local | same machine | The connection stays on the device |
--host <name>:<port> | central | Please give the computer name of the server, not an IP address |
--port <number> | optional | The default is 18124 – only needed if your instance runs on a different port |
--db <name> | always | The name of the ERP configuration that the MS900 instance was started with – not the database name on the database server. Configuration names are stored per Windows user, so the same data may go by a different name for you than for the service account. The name has to match character for character; ask your administrator for it. |
--fingerprint <value> | central | Ties the connection to the certificate of this instance |
Several branches, several users
Several databases on one workstation: one entry each, with its own name and its own --db value. Every entry is approved separately in its own database. If one instance fails, the others keep working.
Terminal server: several users can use the same entry – but each one files their own request and receives their own group. That way you keep control per person.
Several AI assistants on one workstation: the access belongs to the Windows user, not to the assistant. Claude, Codex and others share one registration and one group on the same machine – approving once is enough, the second assistant is included straight away. If one of them reports “registered with a different token”, it comes from an older program version; update your ERP directory and restart both assistants.
Please note: a workstation uses exactly one route. If you later switch from “same machine” to “central”, have the workstation reset once in the ERP administration and register it again.
Let your assistant do the setup
You do not have to type the configuration yourself. Copy the following request into your AI assistant: it will ask for the details it is missing, propose the finished entry, and walk you through registration and approval.
Hello, please set up my MicrotronX ERP access (MS900 module, MCP) for yourself. 1. First check whether mxBridge.exe sits in the standard folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\MicrotronX\MicrotronX ERP If it is not there, ask me for my ERP directory. In any case ask me for the name of the ERP configuration (not the database name), and whether MS900 runs on this machine or centrally on the server. For "central" also ask for the computer name of the server and the fingerprint. 2. Build my MCP server entry from that: type stdio, program mxBridge.exe, arguments --stdio, plus --local (same machine) or --host <name>:<port> (central), always --db <ERP configuration>, and for central also --fingerprint <value>. Show me the entry first and only change a file once I have agreed. 3. Then tell me that I have to restart you once. 4. After the restart: check which tools the server offers. If ms900_status is the only one, call it and tell me the state and the confirmation code. 5. Explain to me that my administrator compares that code in the ERP, approves the workstation and assigns a group – and that I then restart you once more. 6. If a message such as "not signed in", "no permission", "wrong database" or "no instance found" comes up, look it up at https://mcp.microtronx.com/einrichtung.html and tell me in one sentence what to do. Please do not enter any passwords and change nothing without my consent.
An assistant with internet access can also read this page itself – just tell it to look at https://mcp.microtronx.com/einrichtung.html. For machines the same instructions exist as plain text: llms.txt.
What your assistant cannot do for you
Approval and the group assignment are done by your administrator inside the ERP – no assistant reaches that far. You pass the confirmation code to your administrator so they can compare it; it is not a password and does not belong in anyone else’s hands.
If something does not work
| You see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| “not signed in” | The workstation has no valid registration yet | Restart the assistant; the status enquiry can file a new request |
| “blocked” / “no permission” | Approved, but without a group | The administrator assigns a group |
| Approved, but no tools | The group contains no active permission block | Complete the group in the ERP administration |
| “wrong database” | The value given for --db does not match the instance on this port | Ask your administrator for the configuration name and enter it character for character |
| the message reads: “keine Instanzkennung …” even though MS900 is visibly running | As a rule MS900 was started without administrator rights – then it does not register itself system-wide, even though the process and the port are there. Less often: wrong port or wrong ERP configuration | Set MS900 up as a service, or restart it with right-click → Run as administrator; only then check the port and --db |
| “already registered another way” | The workstation was already registered over the other route | Have the workstation reset, then register it again |
| “registered with a different token” | Two registrations for the same workstation – with older program versions each assistant created one of its own | Update the ERP directory and restart both assistants; if the message persists, have the workstation reset |
Workstation shown without a machine name, e.g. \user | The assistant starts the program in a sandboxed environment; older versions could not determine the machine name there | Update the ERP directory |
Approved, but the assistant still shows only ms900_status | The assistant did not reload its tool list after approval | Restart the assistant; if it happens again, update the ERP directory |
| No answer at all | MS900 is not started, or the port cannot be reached on the network | The administrator checks the service and the network permission |
What your assistant gets to see
Exactly what you allow – and not one step more. User accounts, passwords and your system’s credentials are locked as a matter of principle: for every group, in every query, even when someone tries to reach them by a detour. Read queries are checked before they run; anything that is not clearly permitted is rejected rather than executed in case of doubt.
Also possible without any data access. Give a group the structure tools (list_tables, list_columns) and the statistics templates (get_stat_template, put_stat_template), but not sql_query. The assistant then sees tables, columns and their meaning, but not a single value. It creates reports as templates in your statistics module; they run only there, and no result, row count or run time goes back to it. For such a group, sql_plan only compiles a query instead of running it.
One thing we want to be clear about
If a group may read data, MS900 delivers it to your assistant. What the assistant does with it is up to the assistant – if it works with a cloud service, the content it has read reaches that provider. This is independent of MS900 and applies to every AI connection.
So choose the group rights as narrowly as your task allows, and discuss the use with your data protection officer. We are glad to advise you.
Remote support by MicrotronX
Independently of AI access, MS900 can open a maintenance channel for our support team – useful when something goes wrong, and without you having to open a port to the outside.
- Only with your consent. Every request appears on your side and has to be allowed.
- You decide the scope – read only, or make changes as well – and the time window.
- Revocable at any time. You end the session whenever you want.
- Logged. Access is recorded; changes to program components keep a prior version.
- During an approved session our support team works with the maintenance rights provided for that purpose, not with your user groups. You set the frame through scope and time window – without your approval no access takes place.
